This means that he therapist will use a mix of different massage strokes that may stretch from Japanese Shiatsu to the long effleurage strokes during the session. Secondly, what’s unique about this treatment is that the accompanying background spa music during the massage is composed on the spot during the session, according to the therapist’s massage strokes.

How does it work?

With a unique technology, the music player composes a unique healing music during the Zen Music Therapy massage with the help of two tiny sensors placed under an armband that captures the therapist’s movements during the session. This unique spa music enhances the therapeutic experience, fostering a greater sense of connectivity, harmony and healing. Creating a poly-sensorial experience, it fosters greater empathy between therapist and you to induce relaxation, mediation and enhance a sense of balance.

Hence whether your muscles are sore from straining at your desktop, or jetlag from a recent trip, the therapist will use a mix of deep

tissue massage with each stroke synced to the tinkling notes of a piano sonata, or long broad strokes enhanced by ethereal chords and celestial voices to cleanse your chakra for deep relaxation. Your therapeutic session does not end here. The music composed will be etched into a CD rom for you to play at home to lull yourself to sleep. Your body will be able to sense the familiar rhythm and respond well to the soothing tune and enhance your slumber.

The therapist starts the session by first explaining that unlike other body massages, she will not be spending extended time focusing the massage on trouble spots. Next she gauges the condition of my spine and back as she asserts gentle pressure over my whole back. This is followed by a mix of different massage techniques used to soothe the various muscles on my back and limbs. The music playing in the background flows with every stroke and eventually lulls me to sleep.

VERDICT

This is an absolutely relaxing and therapeutic massage session. Although there wasn’t any focus on my feet, the strain that I had when I walked into the spa had almost disappeared by the time the session ends. I feel that the improvement in my legs is the best answer I can give on how effective this massage is. I love the concept of the CD as it offers me more choices other than counting sheep when I have insomnia.
